Formed in 1998 by Will Jones III (Kamillion), Dante’ Jordan (TaeTrill), and Alonzo Ferguson Jr (Classico), the Mystyc Family quickly gained local notoriety throughout Atlanta High Schools. Drawn together by their mutual love for music, each member complimented one another’s style but at the same time being so different.
Classico, born in Brooklyn, New York, began touring the world with his father at a very young age. Growing up in the music industry gave Classico an inside view of the real workings of the music business, thus beginning his love and passion for the craft. Early on, Classico’s parents discouraged the idea of him becoming an artist and wanted him to focus on the management aspect. So upon graduation from high school in 2000, Classico began touring with various artists as a stage tech and over the years was promoted to a stage manager, production manager and ultimately a road manager. Having conquered all tasks his parents placed before him, his true love for being an artist could now be tackled with the support of those he looked up to the most. With the formation of the Mystyc Family, Classico knew he finally had a team of individuals that could not only support his dream but add to and inspire as well.
Kamillion, a military brat, traveled throughout Germany with his mother before ultimately settling in his original birthplace of Atlanta, Georgia in his late child years. Growing up, Kamillion was exposed to the other side of the tracks but remained inactive in the criminal world. Music and football was all Kamillion cared about. Kamillion partnered with long time friend Eugene Smith (Geno the Poet) and began composing music. Enlisting in the US Army and serving in Iraq gave Kamillion a broader perspective and more insight which he brings across in his music.
TaeTrill was born in Americus, Georgia and moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his parents at a very young age. Growing up in Atlanta, TaeTrill became involved in the “wrong crowd” and saw the darker side of life for many years. Theft and selling drugs became a way of life for TaeTrill, who learned how to hide his criminal life from his friends and family. After being arrested and seeing fellow drug dealers die or get sentenced to life, TaeTrill turned in his criminal lifestyle and chose to pursue his legal passion of music. Laced with a more laid back style of rap similar to Snoop Dogg, TaeTrill became a battle rapper and won many battles in the school yard of his high school.
In less than a month, Classico, TaeTrill, Kamillion, and a host of others formed the Mystyc Family and began creating a buzz in their neighborhoods. Holding recent recordings for the exclusive ears of record executives, Mystyc Family’s early songs are still buzzing through neighborhoods and are considered “classics”. Classico, TaeTrill, and Kamillion are the forefront of a movement. Three separate styles and creative mindsets give the Mystyc Family their uniqueness. A first of their kind, pioneers, innovators, students of the music culture, a product of each of their respective environments, the Mystyc Family is today’s Super Group. Being inspired by all genres of music, Mystyc Family has created their own genre, appropriately titled ‘Hip-Pop’. Take notice!!!
